Comments: I'm one of those artists who describe themselves as having "no formal art training". As a result, I sometimes feel uncomfortable with the title "artist". I just seem to have a knack for doodling, and the ball point pen is the perfect instrument for the doodler. The black ball point can, I find, produce a wider variety of greys than the more traditional technical pen. It is possible to lightly sketch with a good ball point, where the technical pen relies on crosshatching to achieve tonalities.
